At the 11th time and asking Bohemians finally defeated Derry City.

Dinny Corcoran’s first minute opener was followed up by a second half goal from Daniel Kelly, as Keith Long’s finally got one over Kenny Shiels, winning 2-0 at the Brandywell.

The Dalymount Park men should have scored more goals as they dominated things throughout, with Keith Ward instrumental in their display. As for Derry, that’s there 15th league defeat of the campaign and that says it all.

Bohs went in front after just 52 seconds as Daniel Kelly turned on the afterburners and raced pass Kevin McHattie, before his low right wing cross found Corcoran, who gleefully turned the ball home from close range.

On 19 minutes both sets of supporters applauded in memory of young Bohs fan Oran Tully, who died this week.

Soon after City went close but Rory Hale’s 25 yard strike was easily gathered by Bohemians keeper Shane Supple.

Just after the half-hour mark Keith Ward went close but his stinging drive was kept out by City keeper Gerard Doherty.

Bohs should have added a second on 35 minutes after another slick move ended with Darragh Leahy’s cut-back finding Kelly, but his-side footed effort from close range was blocked by Rory Hale.

Soon after a left-wing corner by Ben Fisk found Dan Seabourne at the near post, but the centre-back headed wide.

Derry, who had boss Shiels sitting in the stand through suspension, made a double change at the break with Dean Shiels and Aidy Delap replacing Ben Fisk and Ally Roy.

While Delap went close to equalising on 53 minutes as his 25 yard drive flashed inches wide.

A minute later Bohs ended the game as a contest as they deservedly netted a second goal thanks to Kelly’s neat finish from just inside the box, when another counter attack caught out Derry.

Derry boss Kenny Shiels had to watch from the stands

Derry should have pulled a goal back on 72 minutes but Ronan Hale’s close range effort was straight at Supple.

Minutes later the woodwork came to Bohs’ rescue as Kevin McHattie’s strike hit the post and Supple had to make a wonder save to keep out Aaron McEneff’s long range effort.
