What's a League of Ireland fan to do?

One of the biggest pop stars in the world rolls in to town, you've got yourself a ticket, but on your way to the 3Arena in Dublin it dawns on you that Britney Spears' has not delayed her concert to avoid a clash with Soccer Republic.

You're a Sligo Rovers fan. Raffaele Cretaro thumped home a screamer in Friday night's crucial win at Limerick. And you want to savour it. So you slip out your phone while Britney belts out Toxic and you watch the highlights. Problem solved.

But... unbeknownst to you, someone has taken a quick photo on their phone of you watching the Bit O' Red and tweeted it out. And it's gone viral.

"I was at the gig with my wife and some friends," Sligo fan Michael Rogers tells RTÉ Sport.

"I'm not a dedicated fan of Britney, but she puts on a good show. I wasn't dragged along or anything. It was a great show, and Pitbull [the support act] was class.

"But it was just about to start, I saw the tweet from Soccer Republic about Raff's goal and I had to watch the highlights! The show started just before his goal so I lost signal. I was disgusted, but I had the show recorded so I got to see it."

Rogers knew better than to be on his phone when the main event started: "It was just about to begin, I would have been killed if she was singing."

He added: "I got a message sent in a group chat at lunchtime by a mate saying 'I hope this was you', then I went on Twitter and spotted it.

"I saw the comments and burst out laughing. Some people seemed a bit touchy... but it's all for the love of the Rovers!"
