Shamrock Rovers have agreed a €400,000 deal for the sale of teenage goalkeeper Gavin Bazunu to English Premier League champions Manchester City.
The 16-year-old Bazunu will complete the move to Manchester next summer after he finishes his Leaving Certificate.
Bazunu has attracted plenty of interest from England after bursting onto the scene with Rovers last month, as he became their youngest ever first-team player and kept four clean sheets in six games.
Tottenham were also believed to be in the hunt for Bazunu’s signature, but following talks between Rovers and City officials last week, a deal was reached between the Hoops and Pep Guardiola's side.
According to reports the goalkeeper has agreed a four-year contract at the Etihad and will go straight into their under-18 team next summer.
Until then, he’ll continue his studies and will battle it out with Alan Mannus for the number one spot at Rovers.
Mannus has been impressed with what he’s seen of his rival and said: "His decision making is excellent. There are probably a lot of things that people who aren't goalkeepers maybe don't notice, but small things like making the right decision, whether to go or stay, his positioning - it has all been excellent.
"I can't say enough good things about him."
