Dundalk manager Stephen Kenny wants to see his side bring their league form into Europe when they take on AEK Larnaca in their in the UEFA Europa League second qualifying round first leg clash on Thursday.

The Lilywhites sit atop the SSE Airtricity League having won their last ten league games and victories home and away against Estonian side Levadia Tallinn helped to extend their European campaign.

A win against Larnaca would could see Dundalk play Dutch giants Ajax, but Kenny is taking nothing for granted against the Cypriots who have a decent history in the Europa League.

"We respect AEK Larnaca," he said. "They have had some great European victories in the past few years. They have beaten Spartak Moscow and Dinamo Minsk so we have to respect them in that regard.

"There is nothing won tomorrow though. The tie is won over two legs but the players are playing with confidence and we have had some terrific victories of late. We want to take that into the game."

Dundalk have no new injury worries going into the game although Stephen O’Donnell (broken leg) and Stephen Folan (knee) remain sidelined and new signing Sam Byrne also misses out with a hamstring injury.

Like his manager Dundalk centre-back Sean Hoare is aware of the challenge his side face and he has called on the Oriel Park support to again play their part.

"The atmosphere was brilliant in Oriel last week. It was great for us as players. It is a massive cliche but it is true. It's great for us as players to have them there cheering us on.

"There are usually people standing everywhere but the place was full last for the game and we will need that again tomorrow."

The home fans may need to be patient however as Hoare insisted that the most important thing for Dundalk is to keep a clean sheet.

"AEK Larnaca are a decent side from what we know of them so far. You are never going to get an easy game in the Europa League. We are well aware of that. They are all good teams in the competition.

"We have done our homework and we are ready for the game. We have to be solid and make sure that we don't concede an away goal. We will go out to win the game as we always do so hopefully we can take a lead out to Cyprus with us and a clean sheet."
