Cork City manager John Caulfield would prefer his side's home European ties to remain in Turner's Cross even if they wound up in a possible glamour tie against Celtic in the next round of the Europa League.
Having fallen to an expected defeat against Legia Warsaw in the Champions League, Cork enter the Europa League at the third qualifying round phase where they will face the losers of the Champions League clash between Celtic and Rosenborg.
With Celtic being deemed heavy favourites to progress in that tie, most people are anticipating that Cork will face Rosenborg, the dominant force in Norwegian football who last year eliminated Dundalk in the second qualifying round of the Champions League.
Speaking to RTÉ's Pat McAuliffe after his side's 5-0 victory over Derry City last night, Caulfield said that in the event of an upset in the Celtic-Rosenborg match, he would rather his team faced Celtic in Turner's Cross as opposed to moving the game to a bigger venue.
"We know we're going to play either one obviously. Celtic are overwhelming favourites so people would imagine they'll get through and it would be Rosenborg but you never know.
"Rosenborg have been very sticky opposition and I know last year they beat Dundalk. We know that either way, it'll be a very tough tie.
"Would you have a slightly better chance of beating Rosenborg, you probably would. At the same time, if you got the opportunity to play Glasgow Celtic, it would be fantastic.
"As the manager of Cork City football club, I'd prefer if it was in Turner's Cross because of our supporters. We've brilliant support here. We had a full house against Legia.
"I know what people are saying about maybe going to a bigger venue and I can understand that.
"But with our loyal fans, our true fans, we're averaging crowds of 6,000 or 7,000 and we can cater for them here.
"Obviously, there may be more people from the outside who would like to see it, but personally I would prefer it was in Turner's Cross.
