Anthony Stokes has made a shock move to Iranian club side Tractor Sazi.
The former Arsenal, Sunderland and Celtic attacker had been a free agent after leaving Greek outfit Apollon Smyrni, who joined from Hibernian in February.
Stokes has been capped nine times for the Republic of Ireland but has not played for his country since the 4-1 friendly defeat of the USA in the November of 2014.
The 29-year-old now heads for Iran alongside English forward Harry Forrester, who was released by Rangers midweek. His arrival was announced on the club website yesterday.
It's not completely uncharted territory for an Irish footballer. Eamon Zayed had a spell with Aluminium Hormozgan back in 2013.
