Clare native Ryan Nolan joined Liam Brady and Robbie Keane as only the third Irishman to make a senior debut for Italian giants Inter Milan.

The 19-year-old central defender has spent the last two years with the Nerazzurri and made his bow with the first team in a pre-season friendly against Swiss Super League outfit Lugano.

Nolan, who has been training with the Inter Milan senior squad throughout pre-season, came on as a second-half substitute in a 3-0 win.

Inter will take on Sion on Wednesday, before facing Zenit St Petersberg next Saturday and Nolan will hope to be involved in both of those games.

Nolan spoke to RTÉ back in April and, in an in-depth interview, revealed how he moved from Clare to Spain with his family as a child and played for his local team before being spotted by scout Pierluigi Casiraghi, who convinced him to join the Inter youth set-up.
