Eamon Dunphy has heaped praise on Belgian international Marouane Fellaini, describing the midfielder as a warrior.
The Manchester United player was a key figure in the Red Devils’ 1-0 win over England to secure top spot in Group G, with England to face Colombia in the round-of-16 clash.
The 30-year-old has been a much maligned figure since his £27.5m move to Old Trafford five years ago, but Dunphy says his all-action performance against England illustrated his attitude and quality and displayed why United are set to hand him a new two-year contract extension.
"He’s a real warrior," he told viewers. "He gets stuck in and he’s got skill. He’s so honest and sticks at the task.
"He’s a remarkable nuisance, and I mean that in a complimentary way.
"You’d hate to have him playing against you. He’s amazing and someone I really admire.

"Manchester United are going to give him a new contract...I think Jose Mourinho has figured out it’s better to have in your team than against you."
"I wouldn’t necessarily want him in my starting XI, but I admire him."
