Sporting Lisbon have sacked manager Sinisa Mihajlovic just nine days after his appointment as the Portuguese club was plunged into further crisis.
Mihajlovic was brought in by former president Bruno de Carvalho but, following his departure on Sunday, the 49-year-old Serbian has also left Estadio Jose Alvalade.
The vote by supporters to remove De Carvalho came after nine players quit the club following an attack by fans at the training ground in May.
The group includes Portugal internationals Rui Patricio, William Carvalho, Gelson Martins and Bruno Fernandes, as well as Ruben Ribeiro, Bas Dost, Daniel Podence, Rafael Leao and Rodrigo Battaglia.
Now the search for a new manager begins again after Mihajlovic's short-lived reign was brought to a close.
"Sporting CP has decided to terminate the contract with the coach, so he is out of our plans for the next season," said Sousa Cintra, described as the president in a statement on the club's website.
Cintra revealed that he would appoint a new boss on Monday, and he is also hopeful that some of the nine disgruntled players would return.
He added: "It is my wish that they return to Sporting CP, some of them were created here."
Goalkeeper Patricio has already signed for Wolves on a free transfer, while Carvalho, Martins and Dost have all been linked with Premier League clubs.
