David Meyler wants to create his "own piece of history" at Reading after signing with the Championship outfit on a two-year deal with the option of a third year.
The Republic of Ireland midfielder had been without a club after his contract with Hull expired and the Royals swooped for his services.
Last week the 29-year-old had said his next move would be all about "ambition". Upon his unveiling with Reading, he again accentuated his desire to collect trophies.
"I was looking for ambition and I spoke to the manager – he lined that out for me and I want to get this club promoted," he told the club website.
"We spoke about the way he wants to play, what he wants to do and where he thinks this club should be. The focus is to get back to the Premier League and that’s what I’m here to do.
"I’m committed. I give 100% to everything I do. I’m coming here to get back to the Premier League and win promotion. That’s my aim, that’s the manager’s aim and that’s what I want to do."

Reading had a tough campaign in the Championship last season, finishing just three points above the drop zone.
Nonetheless, Meyler is extremely positive about the club's hopes in the near future, and wants to be at the heart of any success.
"In my time at Hull I helped create history, I want to come here and create our own piece of history," he said.
"For me, the biggest thing as a footballer is playing in big occasions.
"I’ve been very fortunate to play in an FA Cup final, play for my country, I’ve won promotion out of this division twice.
"Having those moments and being involved in them is incredible, especially for fans and everyone involved, that’s got to be the target."
