The Republic of Ireland will wear a kit containing the LGBT rainbow flag when they take on the USA in today's friendly international at the Aviva Stadium.

In a show of solidarity, the numbers on the back of each Ireland player's jersey will feature rainbow colours rather than the traditional white.

The FAI published the image on twitter where they wrote: "The back of match kit. Not just a number, this is a statement. Ireland, supporting #LGBT rights."

The game represent's international stalwart John O'Shea's final appearance for Ireland as he brings the curtain down on a 17-year career.

Meanwhile Shamrock Rovers attacker Graham Burke is set to earn his second cap for Ireland, having featured as a substitute in Monday's 2-0 defeat to France.
