Dimitri Payet says he has no regrets over playing for Marseille in the Europa League final - even though it cost him a place in France's World Cup squad.
The midfielder was in tears as he limped out of his side's 3-0 loss to Atletico Madrid after aggravating a muscle injury. As a result he was left out of Didier Deschamps' 23-man squad for Russia.
The France coach said the former West Ham man would likely have been in his squad if fit, but his injury meant his selection was too great a risk.
However, Payet insists he would make the same decision again.
Writing on Instagram, he said: "When you are a professional player, the France team is the pinnacle, it's true.
"But OM is in my heart and, if it were necessary to do it again tomorrow, after tomorrow, in six months, in a year, I would do it without hesitation.
"I repeat, I love this club and I am ready to make sacrifices for it if that can make it rise again.
"I was fully aware of the risks I was taking, and I fully accept the consequences."
