John Motson's final commentary behind a Match of the Day microphone was acknowledged with a special presentation by Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson at Selhurst Park.
The 72-year-old, who possesses one of football's best-known voices, is retiring after more than half a century of commentaries for the BBC.
Motson was presented with a framed programme and a microphone trophy on the pitch by Hodgson shortly after Palace's win over relegated West Brom.
Motson's last match looked destined to finish goalless until Wilfred Zaha opened the scoring in the 70th minute, with Patrick van Aanholt adding a second to make it 2-0 to Palace.
In the course of his incredible career with the BBC, Motson provided commentary for 29 FA Cup finals and six World Cup finals.
Later on Sunday, Motson is set to receive a special award at the British Academy Television Awards in recognition of his outstanding contribution to sports broadcasting.
