Athlone Town are on the look-out for a new manager after the resignation of Aaron Callaghan.

A statement from the board of the SSE Airtricity League First Division club said that Callaghan had quit for "personal reasons".

The Midlands side are currently bottom of the second tier having picked up just one point from nine games.

Callaghan had taken charge of the club, who had four different managers last season, in December.

Coach Terry Butler has been appointed as interim manager.

Their next game is at home to fourth-placed Galway United on Friday night.
