Wales manager Chris Coleman is calling on his players to capitalise on the position they have put themselves in as the Republic of Ireland come to Cardiff with it all to do this evening.
The home side aslo need a win for the play-off spot but could even sneak in as automatic qualifiers if Serbia slip up against Georgia. A draw would be enough for Wales if Croatia and Ukraine draw.
Speaking in an exclusive interview to be broadcast on RTÉ2 tonight as part of coverage of the World Cup qualifier, the Welsh boss said his side came through a difficult situation after being asked was there a hangover from Euro 2016.
He said: "I don’t know because we came back and we played Moldova here in the first game and we won it 4-0. We were fantastic on the night. We had some tough games then. Away to Austria was tough.
"We were leading and we slipped up there. We came here with a lead against Georgia and we gave that up. We ended up drawing. They were some tough games then away to Serbia and the Republic of Ireland.#
"They are the hard games. At the start of the campaign people were looking at it and I thought a point in both places that I would take that because they are such tough games.
"Every game that went past that we didn’t win.....well then the next one was a must-win and the next one is a must-win. We found ourselves in that situation.
"We’ve had three wins on the bounce and of course and for the Republic.....well we’re both going for the same thing.
"It’s a great situation for us to be in. We’re looking forward to this challenge."
