Republic of Ireland striker Shane Long sat out training this morning ahead of the crucial World Cup qualifiers against Moldova and Wales.
Long had started the last three games with his club Southampton but is suffering from a dead leg at the moment.
There is better news regarding Harry Arter who had been doubtful for the double header with a calf strain.
Arter sat out Bournemouth's scoreless draw with Leicester at the weekend but was involved in training with the Ireland squad today, albeit it a restricted capacity.
Ireland assistant manager Roy Keane confirmed that Arter was involved in training with the rest of the squad today and that he's hoping he takes part in a full session tomorrow.
The potential loss of Long, along with Jon Walters' absence and Kevin Doyle's retirement, may mean that uncapped call-ups Scott Hogan, Aidan O'Brien and Seanie Maguire feature in Friday's game at the Aviva.
"We hope [that they can step up]," said Keane.
"We hope they get that opportunity. Obviously there's other options.
"It might be harsh to throw them into an intentional match but we'll see how they go over the next few days training.
"I'd expect one or two of them to be involved on Friday, certainly getting on the pitch at some stage."
Earlier Wales confirmed that Gareth Bale would miss out on both of their final two games through injury.
"We're missing [Seamus] Coleman and Walters," said Keane. "They are as important to us as Bale is to Wales. That's life. It's part of the game."
Midfielder James McCarthy did "about 70% of the session", the former Manchester United midfielder said.
