John Caulfield has warned his Cork City players they’re playing for a place in the FAI Cup final ahead of their final Airtricity Premier Division game of the season.
The Leesdiers travel to Bray assured a third second-placed finish on the bounce – with Dundalk having beaten them to the title every time.
Caulfield’s men face the Lilywhites in the Aviva Stadium showpiece on Sunday, 6 November, and he wants his men going in on a high.
“The lads know that places in the starting 11 and on the bench for the cup final are up for grabs," he said.
"We know Bray will be tough opposition, because Harry Kenny has done a fantastic job there and has turned them around. They’ve only lost twice in the last sixteen or eighteen games, so it will be difficult, but we were one of the teams that beat them.
“This year’s team is a phenomenal team. We have scored more goals than in the previous two and we have kept 21 clean sheets in the league so far, but unfortunately for us, it did not get us the league.
"There are a lot of positives but, as I keep saying, the bottom line is that people want silverware; that’s what we are here for. We are working very hard to get there, we have been very close and we have an opportunity next week.”
Greg Bolger, Garry Buckley, Kenny Browne and Steven Beattie all return from suspension, but Buckley is likely to miss out with a hamstring strain.
Long-term absentees Alan Smith and John Dunleavy remain out.
