Robbie Keane’s LA Galaxy have booked their place in the MLS play-off semi-finals after a 3-1 win over Real Salt Lake City.

Emmanuel Boateng fired two superb individual goals in the space of eight first-half minutes, just five minutes after conceding a penalty which allowed City to level at 1-1.

Alan Gordon had put Galaxy, without the missing Steven Gerrard, in front early on.

Keane started from the bench, but entered the fray in the 52nd minute when he replaced Gordon.

Toronto FC set up a semi-final clash with New York City after they despatched Philadelphia Union 3-1.

The Canadian outfit, who finished third in the Eastern Conference, were too good for the Union and won it through goals from Sebastian Giovinco, Jonathan Osorio and Jozy Altidore.

Aejandro Bedoya netted in the second half for the visitors, but they could not deny Toronto a first-ever post-season win.
