Cork City Under-19s boss Stephen Bermingham has urged his players to savour every second of their mouthwatering UEFA Youth League showdown with Italian giants Roma next week.
The Leesiders set up the glamour second-round clash with a terrific 1-0 aggregate defeat of HJK Helsinki.
Now, as they continue their venture as the first Irish side to ever compete in Europe's elite youth competition, Bermingham's men are eyeing a huge scalp when Roma come to Turner's Cross next Wednesday.
"The incentive to play AS Roma was always there for them and this is going to be a huge thing for them now," said the manager.
"It's huge for the club and the city, but also Irish soccer. To be able to play and compete at this level of the game is fantastic for the under-age game in Ireland.
"Roma is obviously a huge attraction for the players and I'm sure it'll be a great occasion when they come to Turner's Cross and the City will really get behind it once again."
Their opponents strolled past Cypriots APOEL Nicosia in the last round with a 9-1 aggregate victory. Cork travel to the Eternal City for the second leg on 23 November.
