Derry City goalkeeper Ger Doherty is the only player to break the Dundalk and Cork City duopoly on this year's PFAI Premier Division Team of the Year.

Doherty is joined by six Dundalk players and four from Cork City in the team, which was voted on by League of Ireland players.

Dundalk's Andy Boyle and Sean Gannon join Cork duo Kevin O'Connor and Kenny Browne in defence.

It's the same in midfield with Dundalk skipper Stephen O'Donnell and Patrick McEleney being named alongside Greg Bolger and Sean Maguire of Cork.

Dundalk dominate the attackers with Daryl Horgan and David McMillan being named in the team.

The Player of the Year nominees are split evenly between the Premier Division top teams with O'Donnell and Horgan flying the flag for Dundalk while Cork's Bolger and Maguire are also in the running.

As expected, Ireland's two biggest Euro 2016 stars are in the running for the Irish Overseas Player of the Year award as Robbie Brady and Jeff Hendrick are joined by Shane Long in the nominations.

There's an international flavour to the Women's Senior International Player of Year shortlist too as Denise O'Sullivan of American side Houston Dash is nominated as is Eskiltuna United's Louise Quinn. Karen Duggan of UCD Waves is the sole Irish based player included.
