Cork City boss John Caulfield has urged his players to keep their cool as the Leesiders enter the defining part of their campaign.

Having booked an FAI Cup final showdown with Dundalk thanks to a 3-1 victory against St Pat's last Sunday, Caulfield's men can now focus on trying to reel in the table-topping Lilywhites.

Cork are four points behind Dundalk with seven league games to go. They travel to Galway United tonight (7.0pm), with Dundalk hosting Sligo Rogers, and their manager has warned they've no room for error.

“We have seven games left and it is all to play for," said Caulfield.  "The important thing for us to is to keep winning matches and keep the pressure on.

“We had a good win against Galway last week, but they have since had a change of manager and beaten Finn Harps. They are a good team at home and they have some very good players but, at the same time, we are going for a league and you have to win in these places if you want to win a league.”

Gearóid Morrissey is a major doubt after picking up an injury in the cup win, while Dave Mulcahy serves a one-match ban.

City go into the game on the back of seven wins in their last eight games. The sides met at Turner’s Cross 11 days ago, where City recorded a 5-3 win, but Caulfield is taking nothing for granted.

“The one thing Galway have done all season is that they have always scored goals, but they have also conceded and that has probably been their Achilles heel," he said.

"We are well aware of their threats but we know that we have been good defensively and we can score goals too. We are at that stage of the season now where you just have to go out and win games; if you don’t you won’t be there at the end of the season.”
