Defender Dane Massey wants Dundalk to create more golden Tallaght memories tonight as the Lilywhites go in search of another European scalp against Maccabi Tel Aviv.

Stephen Kenny's men have defied all expectations in their journey to the Europa League group stages, and showed they're in no mood to rest on their laurels with a gutsy 1-1 draw against AZ Alkmaar two weeks ago.

Next up is a clash with the Israelis, but because Oriel Park is deemed unsuitable for European games, Dundalk will set up camp at Tallaght Stadium (kick-off 8.05pm). It's a venue that's been kind to them in the past.

“Last year we won the league here, which was a great thing for us, to come to Tallaght and win it," said left-back Massey.

"We beat BATE here in the Champions League [qualifiers] as well so I think everyone is comfortable enough at the ground. It’s a great pitch; the ground staff here are excellent."

It's sure to be rocking for the visit of Shota Arveladze's side, which boasts the likes of ex-Liverpool playmaker Yossi Benayoun and Tal Ben Haim, who has plied his trade with Bolton and Portsmouth in the Premier League.

However, Kenny was quick to talk up the pedigree of his own panel, and said he'd prefer to be playing in the Aviva Stadium.

“If you ask me, I’d prefer to play in the national stadium. That’s my personal preference," he said.

"I feel the players that I have belong on the bigger stage and I think they've shown that in the bigger stadiums.”
