Sligo Rovers boss Dave Robertson has challenged his players to prove they're moving in the right direction by taking Dundalk's scalp tonight (7.45pm).
The Bit O'Red's clash with Finn Harps at the Showgrounds was abandoned after 21 minutes on Saturday due to an unplayable pitch - the second time this season the fixture has been postponed after floodlight failure in March forced the game to be blown up four minutes early.
Robertson is looking to regain momentum when the Lilywhites come to town though, as his men look to close the gap on fourth-placed Shamrock Rovers.
“Playing a top team like Dundalk is a challenge myself and the players are looking forward to and we said so after the Harps game," said Robertson.
"Dundalk have a very strong squad and great depth. Stephen Kenny has done a magnificent job there balancing domestic games with Europe. But we don’t fear any team that comes to the Showgrounds.
"We'll be looking to play on the front foot. We view this game as an opportunity to show everyone how far we have come.”
Sligo, unbeaten in 12 home games, are looking to end a winless run of eight games against the reigning champions.
Raffaele Cretaro and Craig Roddan are both available after serving suspensions, and Robertson has no major injury concerns.
Dundalk edged the it earlier in the year at Oriel Park thanks to a Ronan Finn penalty, but Robertson is taking heart from the nature of that defeat.
“We were right in the game the last time we played," he said. "We lost it due to one decision for the penalty.
"I saw something recently that Cork have been given nine penalties and Dundalk three while for us there have been none, but I think there has been some stonewall penalty decisions not given to us.
"Our luck has got to change sometime and hopefully that will be soon.”
