Derry City 0-0 Galway United
Poor finishing and good goalkeeping by Conor Winn, meant Derry City and Galway United played out a scoreless draw at the Brandywell.
Winn denied substitute Nathan Boyle in the closing minutes, while the woodwork stopped Rory Patterson's second half flick.
United should have taken the lead on 20 minutes after a split by Patrick McClean, resulting in Conor Melody picking up possession before he found Vinny Faherty inside the box, but the striker's shot was kept out by a diving Gerard Doherty.
Moments later City broke down the other end but Ronan Curtis' 20 yard drive was well kept out by a full stretched Winn.
United always looked dangerous on the counter-attack but never really threatened Doherty.
Derry went close just before the break as Curtis' stunning shot was parried away Winn.
Doherty had to make a super save on 47 minutes as he did well to get down and keep out Enda Curran's close range strike, after Melody had picked out the ex-Derry striker.
On 56 minutes a clever pass by Aaron McEneff found Lukas Schubert, but the winger's side-footed shot from 10 yards failed to trouble Winn.
City were inches away from breaking the deadlock on 74 minutes after substitute Ben Doherty saw his long range strike flicked towards goal by Rory Patterson, but his clever effort, which had Winn beaten, rattled against the post.
On 84 minutes, as Derry pushed for all three points, Conor McCormack's 25-yard strike was dropped by Winn, but the big keeper did well to keep out Nathan Boyle's close range follow-up effort.
