In his 18 years as an Irish international, Robbie Keane has more often than not given pre and post-match interviews to RTÉ Sport's Tony O'Donoghue.
Their latest exchange, following Keane's last appearance for Ireland on Wednesday evening, had moments where both men paid warm tributes to each other.
"It's been an absolute pleasure and a privilege to see you grow up from a boy in a green shirt to a man and an Irish hero, or as someone today described you 'Ireland's greatest sporting patriot'," said O'Donoghue.
In response, Keane replied: "It's been absolute honour to be interviewed by you down through the years and I thank you very much", along with more classy words from the country's record goalscorer.
