Transfer news: Palace want three more players

Crystal Palace boss Alan Pardew hopes to bring in up to three more new players before the transfer window closes next week.

It has been a busy summer at Selhurst Park and Pardew expects that to continue up until the deadline at 11pm on Wednesday.

Palace have spent in excess of £50million on winger Andros Townsend, centre-half James Tomkins, goalkeeper Steve Mandanda and striker Christian Benteke - who the club broke their transfer record to sign in a deal potentially worth upwards of £27million.

The Eagles recouped around £25million of that following Yannick Bolasie's switch to Everton while Dwight Gayle also departed to Newcastle in a £10million deal.

Following the turnover of players - Emmanuel Adebayor, Marouane Chamakh, Brede Hangeland and Adrian Mariappa have also left - Pardew feels Palace are in a period of transition.

"We're close with someone else (arriving) at the moment, we're hoping to get that over the line. We're looking to bring in two or three more," Pardew said.

One piece of business Palace are adamant will not be happening is Wilfried Zaha leaving to join Tottenham.

On Thursday the Eagles rejected a £12million offer from Spurs for the 23-year-old winger - a bid chairman Steve Parish called "ridiculous", before going on to reassure Palace fans that Zaha would be "going nowhere - 100 per cent guaranteed."

Deportivo La Coruna have granted permission to Lucas Perez to withdraw from the squad to face Real Betis on Saturday amid media talks linking the striker to a potential move to Premier League club Arsenal.

"Lucas Perez, a striker, will not travel to Seville, with permission of the club," the La Liga club said in a statement on its website (www.canaldeportivo.com).

Arsenal have fought off interests from league rivals Everton and are set to sign striker, according to British media reports.

The 27-year-old, who scored in Deportivo's 2-1 win against Eibar last Friday, netted 17 goals in 37 appearances in all competitions last season.

Arsenal's efforts to bolster their strike force have been thwarted with Olympique Lyonnais rejecting a bid for Alexandre Lacazette and Jamie Vardy committing his long-term future to Leicester City after being pursued by the North London club.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger's only forward signing in the current transfer window has been 21-year-old Japan international Takuma Asano.
