Dundalk manager Stephen Kenny was quick to salute a "magnificent" night for the club after qualification for the play-off round of the Champions League was secured with a 3-1 aggregate win over BATE Borisov at Tallaght Stadium.
A David McMillan brace and a Robbie Benson effort sent Dundalk fans into ecstasy and all involved will now be looking forward to the draw on Friday.
Potential opponents for the League of Ireland champions include; Celtic, Viktoria Plzen, Apoel Nicosia, Dinamo Zagreb, Ludogorets Razgrad, Olympiakos/Hapoel Be'er Sheva, Trencin/Legia Warsaw, Astra Giurgiu/FC Copenhagen or Partizan Tirana/Red Bull Salzburg.
Tuesday's win also ensures that, at the very least, the Co Louth club have qualified for the group stages of the Europa League.
Kenny was somewhat emotional when speaking to RTÉ Sport after his side’s dismissal of the fancied BATE.
"As European night's go, it doesn't get much better than this,” he said.
“We can't even put it into words, it was just so special to win in the manner in which we did.
“I thought the players were magnificent tonight in the way they played, in the confidence they displayed and the passion they showed. It was really special.
"To score three goals was just phenomenal. Dave McMillan's goals were real predators’ finish. Robbie Benson's goal was just terrific."
In a further appreciation of McMillan’s contribution, the Dundalk manager added: “He has added to his game and he's scoring lots of goals off crosses which wasn't always his strength.
"He was always quick and could score when one on one with the keeper. Now he's scoring all types of goals and there is a greater variety to his play."
