Swansea have signed Australia international Mark Birighitti on a two-year deal.

The 25-year-old, who has one international cap for the Socceroos, has joined on a free transfer from A-League Newcastle Jets.

He will provide competition for Lukasz Fabianski, Kristoffer Nordfeldt and Gerhard Tremmel in the race to be Francesco Guidolin's number one.

Birighitti began his career at Adelaide United and has spent time on loan at Serie B's Varese.

Alvaro Negredo in action for Man City

Middlesbrough hope to tie up a deal for Valencia striker Alvaro Negredo after jetting out to Spain for a pre-season training camp.

The Teessiders have been in talks over the 30-year-old former Manchester City frontman for some time as they look to secure an initial loan deal.

It is understood those discussions will continue in Marbella, where Boro will play three games starting with Tuesday night's friendly against Real Betis.
