Victor Wanyama is looking forward to a "new dawn" in his career at Tottenham as the Kenyan midfielder closes in on his £11million move from Southampton.

Wanyama appears set to join up with former Saints boss Mauricio Pochettino at White Hart Lane, with the player claiming a medical has been completed, although there has as yet been no formal confirmation from either Barclays Premier League club.

The midfielder, who will be 25 on Saturday, was signed from Celtic in July 2013, but had so far not taken up offers of a new contract, and so would be free to leave St Mary's Stadium at the end of next season.

"I am indeed elated at passing my medicals at Tottenham. It is a new dawn in my career and I believe I will give my best for my new team," Wanyama said in an interview with African football website www.soka25east.com.

"I want to thank Southampton management and fans for the exceptional time we had together. I will always have a fond place for them in my heart."

Wanyama made 92 appearances for Southampton, scoring four goals.

Chelsea have confirmed teenage midfielder Charly Musonda will spend next season on loan at Real Betis following a successful spell at the end of the last campaign.

The Belgian-born 19-year-old made 16 appearances for Betis following a loan move in January and will link up with former Blues midfielder Gus Poyet, who was appointed as new manager of the Spanish club in May.

Musonda joined Chelsea from Anderlecht in June 2012, along with his elder brothers Tik and Lamisha. He has since gone on to win the FA Youth Cup, but as yet the Belgium Under-21 international has not featured for the first team.
