Dundalk missed out on a glamour tie against Celtic and will face Icelandic side FH Hafnarfjörður in the Champions League second qualifying round.

Stephen Kenny’s side were in pot 3 in this morning’s draw in Lyon and the Glasgow club were one of six possible opponents for the SSE Airtricity outfit.

FH won the Icelandic league for the seventh time in 12 years in 2015 and the match details will revealed later today by Uefa, with Dundalk enjoying home advantage in the first leg.

Last year the Lilywhites lost 2-1 on aggregate to BATE Borisov at the same stage.

Speaking after the draw, Kenny admitted FH are somewhat of "an unknown quantity" at the moment.

"We haven’t had a chance to have a look at them yet but we know that they have won seven of the last 12 Icelandic championships so they are dominant at home. They are leading their league once again early on.

"They have qualified for European competition regularly over the past few seasons. The fact that they are seeded above us shows that they have been consistent and have had some good victories in Europe.

"We will be a lot more informed by the time that we play them of course but it will be a tough tie.”

Celtic meanwhile will play Estonian side Flora Tallinn or Lincoln of Gibraltar.

There was plenty of Irish interest in the Europa League draw.

In an all-island clash, Cork City were pitted against Linfield, while St. Patrick's Athletic will face Luxembourg club Jeunesse Esch.

Shamrock Rovers will have home advantage in the first-leg against Finnish side Rovaniemi.

The winners of the Linfield-Cork tie will take on Swedish side Hacken
