Republic of Ireland international Simon Cox will leave Championship side Reading this summer when his contract expires.
Cox’s hometown club have also opted not to offer new deals to defender Anton Ferdinand and winger Hal Robson-Kanu, who has made 200 appearances for the Royals.
Reading finished 17th in the Championship this season.
A product of the Berkshire outfit’s academy structure, Cox made his Reading debut in 2005, but joined Swindon Town in 2008 after failing to make an impact at the club.
Moves to West Brom and Nottingham Forest followed before the striker returned for a second spell with his boyhood club in 2014. However, the 29-year-old has struggled for first-team action and goals this term and was loaned out to divisional rivals Bristol City earlier in the campaign.
Cox scored the fifth and final goal in Ireland’s 5-0 drubbing of Northern Ireland on his international debut in the Nations Cup in 2011 and became a familiar face in Giovanni Trapattoni’s line-ups.
The last of Cox’s 30 Ireland caps came in a scoreless draw against Italy at Craven Cottage in 2014.
