Robert Huth and Marouane Fellaini have both been banned for three games following their clash at Old Trafford last weekend.

Leicester City defender Huth pulled Fellaini’s hair and the Manchester United man responded by hitting out with his elbow.

Neither of them were punished at the time, but the English FA found them guilty of violent conduct and suspended the pair.

Huth will miss new champions Leicester’s final two league games of this season plus the first game of the 2016/17 campaign as a result.

But because United have a game in hand, Fellaini will serve out his suspension in the league and will return to action in the FA Cup final if manager Louis van Gaal picks the combative midfielder.

The decider will take place on May 21 at Wembley with Manchester taking on Crystal Palace.

An FA statement said: "Both players accepted the charge, however, Huth (above) contested that the standard penalty of a three-match suspension would be 'clearly excessive'.

"This claim, however, was rejected following an Independent Regulatory Commission hearing today."

The incident was not seen by the match officials but a panel of former referees agreed both offences warranted red cards.

Huth will miss Leicester's game against Everton on Saturday, when they will be presented with the Premier League trophy, and their final match against Chelsea as well as next season's league opener.
