VIDEO:Dunphy slams Man City 'chancers'

RTÉ Soccer analyst Eamon Dunphy has blasted Manchester City’s expensively assembled players as ‘chancers’ following their semi-final elimination at the hands of Real Madrid.

Speaking on Wednesday night’s live coverage of the second leg from the Bernabeu on RTÉ2 he gave misfiring city both barrels.

Yaya Toure, Sergio Aguero, Jesus Navas and Kevin De Bruyne were just some of the players in his sights.

“It was a very poor game. City, I’m relieved they’re not in the final because they are a team without courage and without drive. They were poor tonight, but Madird were poor too,” said Dunphy.

“It does underline the dearth of real quality players in the game. Manchester City have spent a fortune on that collection of chancers.

“Yaya, for example, wouldn’t really have a go, Aguero, again disappointing in a big Champions League game, De Bruyne after being talked up and hyped up all year after knocking over the West Broms of this world – tonight when he was needed, nothing.

“For football lovers, a most disappointing game and sets up Atletico to win the Champions League.”

After their 1-0 aggregate win Real will take on cross-city rivals Atletico Madrid in the final in Milan on 28 May and Dunphy’s fellow analyst Didi Hamann says City didn’t deserve to go through.

“City got what they deserved,” he said.” It was poor start to finish. Madrid were without playing well were by far the better side.

“Look at the forward line – Aguero had one shot with five minutes to go, Navas is a myth, I don’t know what he does, De Bruyne a major disappointment tonight, he lost nearly every ball he got.
