FAI CEO John Delaney said Barcelona's pre-season friendly with Celtic at the Aviva Stadium is "fitting of such a world class venue".
Barcelona will make their first visit to the Aviva Stadium where they will play Celtic on 30 July in the International Champions Cup.
"This is the perfect club match to showcase everything that this fantastic stadium has to offer, and will be a very special occasion for all sports fans to savour," Delaney said.
"This will be up there with the Europa League Final in 2011, and with the stadium's hosting of matches in the UEFA EURO 2020 tournament."
Celtic captain Scott Bronw echoed those sentiments at the launch today: "We are delighted to take part in the International Champions Cup, joining such high calibre teams in a fantastic tournament.
"I am sure the match in Dublin, between two of world football's great clubs, at a brilliant venue, will be an occasion to savour.
"Celtic is a club with such strong Irish roots and we are privileged to have so many supporters in Ireland. The match will give our fans in Ireland another great opportunity to see the team in action and I know they and other fans of both clubs from further afield will be really looking forward to the game."
