Derry City 1-0 Bohemians

Derry City made it five victories out of five at the Brandywell to keep up the pressure on SSE Airtricity Premier Division League leaders Dundalk after seeing off the challenge of Bohemians.

Striker Rory Patterson continued his impressive form as he netted his sixth goal of the season, with his first-half goal ultimately the difference between the sides.

City started well and they were inches away from taking an early lead as Patrick McClean's inch perfect cross field pass picked out Nathan Boyle, but the mid-week goal hero against Sligo Rovers, fired wide from the right hand side of the box.

Derry took the lead on 14 minutes in super fashion when Keith Ward's defensive splitting pass found Barry McNamee and although the midfielder slipped when one-on-one with Delany, the loose ball fell to Patterson, who blasted home his sixth goal of the campaign.

On the half hour mark the visitors missed a great opportunity to level things but Kurtis Byrne, missed his kick when inside the six yard box after he had initially chested the ball down for himself and City goalkeeper Gerard Doherty gathered the loose ball.

On 39 minutes a super pass by McNamee released Boyle, but his 20-yard strike was kept out by Delany.

Right on the stroke of half-time Eoin Wearen went close to levelling things but his long range strike was kept out by Doherty.

Delany was called into action on 59 minutes, but he comfortably kept out McNamee's effort after the City midfielder had latched onto Ward's first time through ball.

In a somewhat disappointing second half, both goalkeepers remained largely as spectators aside from one McNamee effort.
