Republic of Ireland midfielder Alan Judge has been rewarded for his fine form this season with Brentford after it was revealed he has been nominated for the Championship Player of the Year award.

The 27-year-old suffered a broken leg last weekend against Ipswich which has cut short his season and ruled him out of contention for a place in Martin O’Neill’s Euro 2016 squad.

The Dubliner has been in sparkling club form for all season, scoring 14 goals in 38 appearances for the Bees who currently sit mid-table in the Championship.

Judge has been nominated along with Burnley striker Andre Gray and Fulham forward Ross McCormack.

Gray move to Turf Moor for £9 million last summer and is the league’s leading marksman with 23 league goals for the side who currently occupy second position in the table.

Scottish international McCormack has found the net on 22 occasions for the Cottagers.

Judge made his international bow in the 1-0 defeat of Switzerland last month before he was struck down with injury and left hospital earlier this week to continue his rehabilitation programme.
