Belgium captain Vincent Kompany says Ireland aren’t the only side with “fire in the belly”.

The countries will meet in what will be both teams' second Group E game at Euro 2016 on 18 June in Bordeaux and Kompany says the Belgians are looking forward to the game.

Asked by RTÉ Sport how the his players felt after drawing Martin O’Neill's men, the Man City defender replied: “We loved it because obviously a lot of Irish players play in the Premier League, a lot of the Belgium players play in the Premier League.

"And as much as Ireland is known for having fire in the belly, I think we are too.

“We’re just looking forward to it, it’s going to be brilliant.”

Ireland open their campaign against Sweden in Paris on 13 June.

City beat Dynamo Kiev 3-1 away to put one foot in the Champions League quarter-finals.

"The performance was good, with a lot of high pressing, 3-1 is a good result and we are happy with it," Kompany said.
"We are going into the second leg with a fairly good chance to go through, which has not been the case before.

"We looked like a team that was hungry for success tonight."
