Aiden McGeady will have at least three choices for a loan move from Everton, according to Roberto Martinez.

The 29-year-old Republic of Ireland winger needs to secure first-team football with Euro 2016 on the horizon. The ex-Celtic player has made just one appearance for the Toffees this season.

Asked about the latest developments around McGeady and fellow Ireland midfielder Darron Gibson, also out of favour at Goodison Park, Everton boss Martinez said: “We’re going to just work together with Aiden and his representative and we’re going to make the right call.

“There have been three inquiries actually. It’s going to be over the next couple of weeks when we’re going to make the final decision.

“It’s a really busy period but we want to make sure we get the right call.

"It will be a short-term deal so Aiden can play football, finish the season really strong"

"It will be a short-term deal so Aiden can play football, finish the season really strong. Then he’s got involvement with the Republic of Ireland.

“At the moment there is [one] opportunity to go abroad and the other two are domestic. We are at an early stage.

“It would be a loan until the end of this season and both players would be returning and competing strongly in pre-season with a view to the next campaign."

A possible return to Celtic was mentioned for McGeady but the Scottish champions later ruled out any deal.

The former Wigan boss also confirmed that Ireland full-back Seamus Coleman would be out for another 10-15 days as he recovers from a calf injury.

Martinez is hopeful of adding to his squad before the end of the January transfer window.

They have already signed youngsters Shani Tarashaj and Matthew Foulds for the long term but Martinez is now looking for recruits to make an impact during the second half of the season.

Dynamo Kiev striker Andriy Yarmolenko is a player Everton have been consistently linked with over several windows.

Martinez claimed he did not know the Ukrainian's agent was at Goodison Park for the FA Cup win over Dagenham on Saturday but confirmed he has irons in the fire.

He said: "We've been working really, really hard to get some business (done) really early. Shani Tarashaj was our target number one in terms of doing it quickly.

"We've got a couple of situations that could happen. The shape of the squad is going to be determined in the last week of the window and we want the squad to be stronger than it is now."

Martinez is also hoping to offload a couple of players on the fringes of the squad.
