Valencia were held to a 2-2 draw by Getafe at the Mestalla as new head coach Gary Neville continued his wait for a first Primera Division victory.

All four goals were scored in the first half, with Getafe twice taking the lead through Pablo Sarabia and Angel Lafita only for Valencia to respond each time via Paco Alcacer and Santi Mina.

Valencia boss Neville has now drawn his first two league matches, while he has suffered a defeat in the Champions League and earned his sole victory in the Copa del Rey.

Real Betis and Sevilla played out a fiery goalless draw as the Andalucian derby ended in deadlock at Benito Villamarin.

Sevilla, who had come into the match on the back of three straight victories, created the better of the few clear chances, with Kevin Gameiro seeing an early effort saved.

Betis, set to face their rivals again in the last 16 of the Copa del Rey in January, gained some momentum as the match went on, but lacked a decisive pass around the penalty area and rarely tested Sevilla goalkeeper Sergio Rico.

Deportivo La Coruna ended a run of three successive draws in all competitions with a 2-0 victory over Eibar at the Riazor.

Lucas Perez opened the scoring from the penalty spot just before half-time and although they were reduced to 10 men midway through the second half when Luisinho was dismissed for a second bookable offence,

Alejandro Arribas sealed victory for the home side in the 73rd minute. Felipe Caicedo's second-half goal proved enough to give Espanyol a hard-earned 1-0 home win over struggling Las Palmas.
