Ahead of Saturday’s Euro 2016 draw, we recap on how Ireland qualified from Group D for the European Championships for the third time.

7 September 7 2014: Georgia 1-2 Republic of Ireland
Aiden McGeady launched Martin O'Neill's competitive reign as manager in style. After Tornike Okriashvili's piledriver had cancelled out the Everton winger's 24th-minute opener, McGeady curled home a 90th-minute winner.

11 October 2014: Republic of Ireland 7-0 Gibraltar
Robbie Keane claimed a quickfire hat-trick as Ireland coasted to victory over minnows Gibraltar. James McClean got in on the act after the break, scoring twice either side of keeper Jordan Perez's own goal, and Wes Hoolahan completed the rout with a 56th-minute effort.

14 October 2014: Germany 1-1 Republic of Ireland
John O'Shea marked his 100th appearance for Ireland with a dramatic injury-time equaliser. The world champions looked to be heading for victory through a Toni Kroos strike, only for the Sunderland defender to stab home his third international goal.

14 November 2014: Scotland 1-0 Republic of Ireland
Shaun Maloney dragged Scotland into the race for Euro 2016 qualification with a superb winner to end Ireland's unbeaten start to the campaign. The then-Wigan midfielder curled home the game's only goal 15 minutes from time.

29 March 2015: Republic of Ireland 1-1 Poland
Shane Long came off the bench to rescue Ireland’s qualification campaign. Poland looked to be heading for victory in Dublin courtesy of Slawomir Peszko's first-half strike, but the Southampton forward stabbed home from close range in the first minute of stoppage time to snatch a point.

13 June 2015: Republic of Ireland 1-1 Scotland
An unfortunate own goal from O'Shea denied Ireland revenge over Scotland. The hosts were deservedly leading through Jon Walters' close-range strike, when Maloney's curling shot, which was going wide, clipped the defender's shoulder and flew home.

4 September 2015: Gibraltar 0-4 Republic of Ireland
All-time top scorer Keane claimed a quickfire double as Ireland finally killed off stubborn Gibraltar in Faro. The veteran struck with a 49th-minute tap-in and then converted a 51st-minute penalty in a match in which Cyrus Christie and substitute Long also netted.

7 September 2015: Republic of Ireland 1-0 Georgia
Walters' seventh international goal kept alive Ireland's hopes of qualification. The Stoke striker, whose arrival in the country was delayed by a possible deadline-day transfer, fired home from close range after midfielder Jeff Hendrick had produced a fine individual run and cross.

8 October 2015: Republic of Ireland 1-0 Germany
Southampton forward Long came off the bench to blast Ireland firmly into the race for Euro 2016 qualification with a famous victory over world champions Germany. The 28-year-old beat Manuel Neuer with a thunderous right-footed shot 20 minutes from time to secure a narrow win in Dublin.

11 October 2015: Poland 2-1 Republic of Ireland
Robert Lewandowski condemned Ireland to the play-offs as Poland booked their ticket for France. The Bayern Munich striker's 15th goal in six matches for club and country handed the home side victory, after Walters had cancelled out Grzegorz Krychowiak's early opener.

13 November 2015: Bosnia-Herzegovina 1-1 Republic of Ireland
Robbie Brady had fired Ireland into an unlikely 82nd-minute lead at the fog-swathed Bilino Polje Stadium in Zenica after the home side had dominated in front of a hugely partisan crowd. However, Roma hitman Edin Dzeko ensured that his team headed for Dublin with everything to play for.

16 November 2015: Republic of Ireland 2-0 Bosnia-Herzegovina (Ireland win 3-1 on aggregate)
Walters returned from suspension to fire Ireland into the Euro 2016 finals with a priceless double at the Aviva Stadium. The Stoke forward converted a 24th-minute penalty after defender Ervin Zukanovic was harshly penalised for handball, and then volleyed home a second 20 minutes from time to complete a 2-0 victory on the night and a 3-1 aggregate win.
