Gareth Bale scored his first goal since August as Real Madrid bounced back from last week's thrashing by Barcelona to secure a hard-fought 2-0 win at Eibar.

Bale headed home his third goal of the season at the end of the first half and Cristiano Ronaldo converted an 82nd-minute penalty after Dani Garcia's trip on Lucas Vazquez to make sure of the points and keep Rafael Benitez's side third in the table.

Real's clean sheet was much-needed after they had shipped 10 goals in their previous three games, including last week's 4-0 home defeat to Barca.

Karim Benzema went close to adding a third for Real in stoppage time, but the substitute fired just wide of the top corner.

Sergio Escudero struck the only goal as Sevilla bounced back from Champions League disappointment to beat nine-man Valencia 1-0 in Nuno's last match in charge of Los Che.

Sevilla, who lost 4-2 to Borussia Monchengladbach in midweek, should have had more to show for their dominance than Escudera's second-half volley against the visitors, for whom Joao Cancelo and Javi Fuego were sent off, both for two yellow-card offences.

After the match, Nuno confirmed he had agreed to step down in a conversion with chairman Peter Lim before kick-off.

Despite the loss, Valencia remain one place and one point better off than Sevilla, who are 10th.

Aritz Aduriz tooks his goals tally for the season to 20 in all competitions as he fired a hat-trick in Atletico Bilbao's 3-0 win at Rayo Vallecano.

The 34-year-old striker, who scored twice in Bilbao's 3-2 Europa League win in Augsburg on Thursday, struck within 60 seconds and converted a first-half penalty before heading his third after the interval as Bilbao secured only their second league win on the road this season.

Bilbao were reduced to 10 men in the 64th minute when defender Aymeric Laporte was shown a straight red card for his challenge on Manucho, but Rayo failed to capitalise on their numerical advantage.

Getafe secured their first win in five league games as a 2-0 home victory against Villarreal lifted them up to 13th place, four points above the relegation zone.

Angel Lafita opened the scoring in the 24th minute and Alvaro Vazquez scored Getafe's second six minutes into the second half to leave Villareal without a league win in November.
