Roy Keane led the tributes to Marton Fulop after the former Sunderland and Ipswich goalkeeper passed away at the age of 32.

Hungarian international Fulop played in England between 2004 and 2010 and is best remembered for his time with Sunderland but he was also on the books of Tottenham, Ipswich and West Brom and also had loan spells with Manchester City, Stoke, Leicester, Chesterfield and Coventry.

A statement on his club MTK's official website read: "We are deeply sorrowful and grieved to announce that after a long illness, Marton Fulop has died."

"I was shocked and saddened to learn of Marton's death," former Black Cats and Ipswich boss Keane said.

"I worked with Marton at Sunderland and Ipswich and I found him to be a great pro, and even more importantly, he was a great lad. My deepest sympathies go to Marton's family and friends."

England manager Roy Hodgson, who coached Fulop at West Brom, spoke of his sadness at the goalkeeper's death. "I'm really devastated," Hodgson said at a press conference in Alicante on the eve of England's friendly against Spain.

"I worked with him for a year at West Brom, a really, really nice person; a good professional. I've got to be honest with you - I didn't even know about the cancer operation he had had at Ipswich.

"It didn't even occur to me there was any health problems at all. When I was told before I came in here I was actually quite shocked. All I can do is pass on my condolences and say it is a sad day; a sad day for his family but a sad day for football too because he was a really good guy."
