Germany coach Joachim Lowe remains convinced his side will seal their place at Euro 2016 despite their shock loss to Ireland on Thursday.

The world champions are still reeling from their one-nil Aviva Stadium defeat, when a draw would have assured them of qualification for France next year.

They are now depending on their final fixture yo go through, though a draw against Georgia in Leipzig on Sunday will be good enough.

Lowe reckons his team will bounce back from the disappointment of losing to Shane Long’s brilliant second-half strike.

"We were all a bit disappointed afterwards that we didn't get anything out of that game, but I don't think anything dramatic happened," he said.

"We were disappointed, but we're confident enough to say that we'll get through anyway."

Local media have accused the team of being arrogant against Ireland, although that view is not shared by the coach.

"I never got the feeling we were arrogant or over-confident," Lowe said. "We got a bit careless, but never cocky.

"Maybe it was a bit down to a lack of concentration, but the problem is you don't have much time to train with the players and get into their minds what you want.

"The team's got to learn to take the chances well and get early goals, otherwise we end up making our opponents feel stronger.

"We've got to be better in the final third. But we are doing things the right way - there can be no doubt about that."

Germany’s usual deadly efficiency was embodied by Mario Gotze in the World Cup final last year.

The Bayern Munich midfielder is not going to be the man for the important goal again on Sunday though, with the groin injury he suffered against Ireland ruling him out until January.

"We were all shocked by the diagnosis," Lowe said. "He'd just got back into really good form, not just for us but also for Bayern, and we're all really sorry for him."

Captain Bastian Schweinsteiger may also miss out against Georgia with a thigh injury, with Lowe saying his fitness will be tested shortly before kick-off.
