Red-hot Antoine Griezmann scored both goals as Atletico Madrid beat local rivals Getafe on Tuesday evening to join Primera Division leaders Barcelona on 12 points.
The French forward put the Rojiblancos ahead with a right-footed shot in the fourth minute and made it 2-0 just seconds from time when he tapped in Jackson Martinez's assist.
Griezmann, who also struck a match-winning double at Galatasaray in last week's Champions League fixture, has now scored six goals in five games for Atletico.
The victory saw Diego Simeone's men move to the top of the standings on goal difference, although Barca can reclaim first place when they take on Celta Vigo on Wednesday.
Also on Tuesday, Valencia saw their winless run extended to three games as they fell 1-0 at Espanyol.
Victor Alvarez scored the only goal of the game in the 17th minute to hand Espanyol their third win of the campaign.
Marco Asensio's free-kick was deflected by Valencia's Santi Mina towards the far post and Alvarez was on hand to head home from close range.
Valencia did have chances to equalise but Espanyol goalkeeper Pau Lopez made sure his side kept a clean sheet for the second time this season.
Los Che have clinched just one win so far and have six points from their opening five games.
Imanol Agirretxe's hat-trick fired Real Sociedad to a first victory of the season at Granada.
The 28-year-old forward struck his first in the seventh minute before adding his second in the 32nd minute, when he took advantage of a defensive blunder by Granada defender Doria.
Agirretxe was not done yet and scored his third 11 minutes from time to hand David Moyes' outfit a deserved 3-0 win at Los Carmenes stadium.
