The Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland have both fallen one place, to 51st and 41st respectively, in the latest FIFA world rankings.

Scotland, who Ireland trail by two points in Euro 2016 Group D qualifying, have moved up to 32nd.

Scotland are third in the group on 11 points after six games behind Germany and leaders Poland, who are on 14 points. Ireland have nine points following two wins, three draws and one defeat - to Scotland.

Wales, meanwhile, have overtaken England for the first time in their history.

England slipped to 10th, swapping places with Chile, while Wales retained their position of ninth to go above the Three Lions.

Chris Coleman's men top Group B in Euro 2016 qualifying and two victories in the next four days will secure their place at the finals for what would be their first major tournament appearance for 58 years.

Coleman himself appeared unfazed by the rankings shift, saying on Wednesday: "The rankings won't get us to France. I wish it would but they won't."

Argentina retained the number one ranking, while Belgium, behind Wales in their qualifying group, stayed in second with Germany third.
