Bohemians 3-0 Galway United

Bohemians were far too crafty for Galway United in claiming a comfortable SSE Airtricity League Premier Division victory at Dalymount Park.

Ismahil Akinade guided Bohs ahead with a splendid ninth-minute goal as Galway struggled to deal with the Gypsies.

The hosts doubled their lead in the 26th-minute when Jake Kelly rattled the Galway net with an opportunistic strike.

Galway substitute Enda Curran was red carded in the 63rd minute, before Kelly sealed the deal with a third for Bohs in the closing stages.

Nine minutes had elapsed when Akinade ruthlessly punished a Galwegian lapse in concentration, rifling the Gypsies ahead with a smart finish.

Buoyed by Akinade's strike, Keith Long's side were in charge as Paddy Kavanagh came within a whisker of adding a second in the 14th minute.

The Tribesmen were struggling and Bohs scored again halfway through the half as Kelly provided a delightful strike after an Akinade header from Lorcan Fitzgerald’s cross hit the woodwork.

Galway spurned a decent chance in the 29th minute when Jake Keegan dragged an effort wide on a rare trip into enemy territory.

After the restart, Galway improved slightly, with skipper Paul Sinnott sending a 52nd-minute shot wide following a Jason Molloy corner.

Galway's difficulties continued in the 63rd minute when substitute Curran was red carded for a challenge on Stephen Best.

Bohemians were dictating the contest, forcing Hanley to make an excellent 72nd minute save to thwart the lively Kavanagh, while on 82 a deflected Akinade header shaved the post.

Kelly decorated Bohs' triumph in the 88th minute, converting a penalty after he had been fouled in the area by Gary Shanahan.

Galway were denied a stoppage-time consolation when Jason Molloy hit the upright with a wicked free-kick, but by then more than enough Bohemians damage had been inflicted.
