Manchester United and Celtic were both handed relatively favourable draws in this morning's UEFA Champions League play-off round draw.

Scottish champions Celtic were given a tough but winnable tie against FC Malmo of Sweden while United, who finished fourth in last year's Premier League, avoided some of the bigger names in the hat by matching with Belgium's FC Club Brugge, .

The heavyweight tie of the round is the meeting of former finalists Valencia and Monaco.

Ashley Young has committed his future to United by signing a new three-year contract which includes an option for an additional season.

The 30-year-old's future had been the subject of speculation as his previous deal entered its final season.

"I am delighted to have signed a new contract," Young said.

"The spirit and motivation amongst this team is very high and we are all determined to make this a season to remember. All I have ever wanted to do is play football and to be able to continue to do that at the biggest club in the world means everything to me and my family."
