Stoke have announced the signing of former Barcelona winger Ibrahim Afellay.

The 29-year-old has signed a two-year contract with the Barclays Premier League club and will link up with his new team-mates in France.

Afellay has been capped 50 times by the Netherlands and most recently against Spain in March. He joins fellow countrymen Erik Pieters and Marco van Ginkel in Mark Hughes' squad, along with ex-Barcelona team-mates Bojan, Marc Muniesa and Moha.

He is the club's eighth close-season signing following the arrivals of Phillip Wollscheid, Jakob Haugaard, Joselu, Marco van Ginkel, Glen Johnson, Shay Given and Moha.
