Bayern Munich have reached an agreement with Juventus over the transfer of Arturo Vidal.

Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge confirmed the Chile international midfielder's move, pending a medical, at a press conference in Guangzhou, China where Bayern are currently on tour.

He said: "I can fundamentally confirm that we have reached an agreement with both parties, Juventus and the player. All that is lacking now is the medical and the signatures on the contract."

That should happen in time for Vidal to link up with his new team-mates from next week, Rummenigge added.

The former Bayer Leverkusen star is currently on holiday in Miami after his successful participation in the Copa America and he is due in Munich at the weekend to undergo his medical.

According to reports, a fee of €37 million plus bonuses has been agreed between the Serie A and Bundesliga champions with the 28-year-old putting in a transfer request earlier this summer once he learned of Bayern's interest.

Vidal moved to Juve from Leverkusen in 2011 and made a total of 124 Serie A appearances, scoring 35 goals.

He arrives in Munich with the experience of 117 Bundesliga appearances and 15 goals, while he has also played in the Champions League 27 times, netting nine.

He will become the second midfielder to leave Juve this summer after Andrea Pirlo, although the Bianconeri have signed Sami Khedira on a free transfer and are reportedly close to agreeing a deal to sign Julian Draxler from Schalke.

Bayern's Mario Gotze is another Juve target, although Rummenigge quashed reports he would move to Turin as part of the deal for Vidal.

Pirlo: I jumped before I was pushed

Andreas Pirlo says he decided to quit Juventus before the Serie A champions could push him out.

The 36-year-old midfielder won four Italian titles in his four years in Turin but opted to leave the Bianconeri and join fledgling Major League Soccer franchise New York City FC this summer.

And Pirlo has now admitted he was worried his long-established role as Juve's playmaker would be prised away from him due to his advancing years.

"The idea of no longer being guaranteed that protagonist's role really weighed upon me," he told the Gazzetta dello Sport.

"Maybe I would have stopped feeling as comfortable within myself. So I preferred to make this choice for myself rather than leave it for others to send me away."

The former AC Milan player confessed his mind was made up shortly after the Champions League final in Berlin, which Juve lost to Barcelona, causing two-time winner Pirlo to break down in tears.

He added: "I'd been thinking about it for a couple of months. And losing that game certainly made me reflect on things even more.

"Certain matches are so important and it would be difficult for me to ever play in them again. So after winning four titles it was the right time for me to leave."

Pirlo has started training alongside new team-mates David Villa and Frank Lampard in New York and could make his debut against fellow expansion side Orlando City on Sunday.
