Transfer news: Arsenal's Szcesny in line for Roma loan

Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny could be offered the chance of a loan move to Roma.

The 25-year-old played in the FA Cup final win over Aston Villa at Wembley, but lost his place in the Gunners' Premier League side to David Ospina at the turn of the year following some inconsistent performances and being fined for smoking in the showers after the defeat at Southampton.

Following the arrival of veteran Petr Cech from Chelsea, the Poland international appears set to get the chance of some regular match action with the Italian club.

Szczesny, though, remains committed to Arsenal for the long term and intent on proving himself the number one again.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger will continue to monitor transfer targets ahead of the deadline, with the likes of Real Madrid's Karim Benzema and Borussia Dortmund's Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang said to be on the radar.

Midfielder Mathieu Flamini, meanwhile, is expected to leave for Galatasaray.

Esteban Cambiasso has announced he will not renew his contract with Leicester.

New Foxes boss Claudio Ranieri had held talks with the 34-year-old midfielder, urging him to make his mind up as the club needed to know if he was staying on after his deal expired last month.

In a statement on his Facebook page, the player said: "I would like to announce that I have decided not to renew my contract with Leicester City.

"I have taken this decision only 24 hours after receiving the proposal from Leicester because I want to give the club as much time as possible to find an alternative."

Cambiasso's decision will come as a blow to Ranieri, who said on Monday - at his first press conference since replacing the axed Nigel Pearson - that keeping the former Argentina international was a priority.

"I've had a conversation with him. I have spoken to him, I know him from Inter Milan, I coached him there. I said to him 'I need you, everybody loves you in Leicester, please come back'," the Italian had said.

Full-back Reece James has left Manchester United to join League One side Wigan on a permanent basis.

The 21-year-old has moved to the DW Stadium for an undisclosed fee, signing a three-year contract after making just one senior appearance for United, in the 4-0 Capital One Cup loss to MK Dons last August.

Having spent time on loan with Carlisle, Rotherham and Huddersfield, James has elected to leave Old Trafford and establish his career elsewhere in the north-west.

Mario Suarez

Reported Arsenal and Manchester United target Mario Suarez is poised to join Fiorentina after the midfielder's departure from Atletico Madrid was confirmed.

The 28-year-old, who won the Primera Division, Europa League and Copa del Rey during his five years at the Vicente Calderon, has arrived in Florence as he prepares to sign for the Serie A club.

Defensive midfielder Suarez, who moved to Madrid from Real Mallorca in 2010, will address the Spanish media and Atleti fans at a press conference to be held in the coming days.

Atletico have been working hard to replace departed defenders Joao Miranda and Toby Alderweireld and on Tuesday secured Montenegro centre-back Stefan Savic on a five-year deal from Fiorentina.

Jose Manuel Jurado

Watford have signed midfielder Jose Manuel Jurado from Spartak Moscow and defender Miguel Britos from Napoli.

Jurado, 29, and Britos, 30, have both agreed three-year contracts with the Hornets, who won promotion back to the Barclays Premier League last season.

Jurado played under Watford head coach Quique Flores during four years at Atletico Madrid, helping the Spanish side win the Europa League in 2010, before enjoying spells at Schalke in Germany and Spartak.

Britos moved to Napoli from Bologna and helped the Italian outfit finish second in Serie A in 2013, and also won the Coppa Italia twice.

The Uruguayan, however, was sent off in what turned out to be his final appearance for the Naples club after headbutting Alvaro Morata during the closing minutes of the 3-1 defeat at Juventus on May 23.

The arrivals of Jurado and Britos mean Watford have now signed nine players this summer after Sebastian Prodl, Giedrius Arlauskis, Matej Vydra, Jose Holebas, Etienne Capoue, Valon Behrami and Allan Nyom penned permanent deals at Vicarage Road.

Manuel Lanzini

West Ham United have signed Argentine youth international Manuel Lanzini on loan from United Arab Emirates side Al Jazira with an option to make the deal permanent, the Premier League club said on Wednesday.

The 22-year-old midfielder, who came through the youth system at famed Argentine club River Plate, has been capped four times at under-20 level.

"This is very emotional because it is one of the best teams I have ever signed for," he said on the club website (www.whufc.com).

"It is a very important step for my career and for my future."

Lanzini becomes West Ham's seventh close-season signing following the arrivals of Dimitri Payet, Angelo Ogbonna, Pedro Obiang, Carl Jenkinson, Stephen Hendrie and Darren Randolph.
